The Surroundings

A large part of the region of Sobrarbe falls within the three natural sites which protect its ecological value: the Ordesa and Monte Perdido National Park; the Posets Maladeta Nature Reserve; and the Sierra y Cañones de Guara Nature Reserve. The area’s traditional gastronomy and charming corners take centre stage alongside the architectural value of the towns and the breathtaking natural scenery. It is a privileged place, an attractive natural setting offering an array of activities to choose from including:walking, day-trips, adventure sports or cultural and tourist trails.

Spend time strolling in the nearby, and very accessible, countryside in which every season brings new colours, lights and shapes, and where the wind, the water and the sun are the true architects of the landscape.

The more adventurous have the opportunity to enjoy mountain sports such as canyoning, rafting, skiing etc., or, to explore the Ordesa National ParkPosets Maladeta, and Sierra y Cañones de Guara. or the two nearby nature reserves:

For those who wish to go on trips, short and longer trails explore pleasant and beautiful surroundings in a land which is a true haven of peace and tranquility in the midst of nature, an ideal place to enjoy open-air activities.

Another option is to visit nearby towns and villages, including Aínsa itself, where a stroll amongst its cobbled streets and elegant monuments takes visitors back to medieval times. In Boltaña one can lose oneself among the streets of the region’s largest old quarter. Bielsa is another attractive locality very close to neighbouring France; and the La Fueva valley, made of small towns and villages remains untouched by tourism. In the Chistau valley, the villages preserve the customs and traditions which have survived the passing of time.

Bon vivants will also find their niche where they will enjoy traditional cuisine with a strong personality, characterised, above all, by the quality of its products which fusion tradition and modernity to create a gastronomy which is the hallmark of the region.
