A large part of the region of Sobrarbe
falls within the three natural sites which protect its ecological
value: the Ordesa and Monte Perdido National Park; the Posets
Maladeta Nature Reserve; and the Sierra y Cañones de Guara
Nature Reserve. The area’s traditional gastronomy and charming
corners take centre stage alongside the architectural value of the
towns and the breathtaking natural scenery. It is a privileged place,
an attractive natural setting offering an array of activities to
choose from including:walking, day-trips, adventure sports or
cultural and tourist trails.
Spend time strolling in the nearby, and
very accessible, countryside in which every season brings new
colours, lights and shapes, and where the wind, the water and the sun
are the true architects of the landscape.
The more adventurous have the
opportunity to enjoy mountain sports such as canyoning, rafting,
skiing etc., or, to explore the Ordesa National ParkPosets Maladeta, and Sierra y Cañones
de Guara. or the two
nearby nature reserves:
For those who wish to go on trips,
short and longer trails explore pleasant and beautiful surroundings
in a land which is a true haven of peace and tranquility in the midst
of nature, an ideal place to enjoy open-air activities.
Another option is to visit nearby towns
and villages, including Aínsa itself, where a stroll amongst
its cobbled streets and elegant monuments takes visitors back to
medieval times. In Boltaña one can lose oneself among the
streets of the region’s largest old quarter. Bielsa is another
attractive locality very close to neighbouring France; and the La
Fueva valley, made of small towns and villages remains untouched by
tourism. In the Chistau valley, the villages preserve the customs and
traditions which have survived the passing of time.
Bon vivants will also find their niche
where they will enjoy traditional cuisine with a strong personality,
characterised, above all, by the quality of its products which fusion
tradition and modernity to create a gastronomy which is the hallmark
of the region.
